The counselor for the Thecratic Ministry School? I NEVER would have thought that, but i'll give it a try....
Just kidding! Thanks, FS!
i been really toggling with the idea of getting into cult psychology/exit counseling.
i don't even know where to begin.
i am currently researching psychology courses to get a degree but i can't seem to figure out what next.

since there seem to be a number of threads in this spirit, i'd like to ask how others became atheists.
for myself, i learned some things that made me understand the bible wasn't true.
i looked deeper, and it became even more unlikely.
Thanks for that!
i'm doing some research for a new blog article on the governing body.
it's in a question-and-answer or "faq" format, and attempts to give simple but well-founded answers to most questions that people could conceivably ask about the governing body.. one thing i noticed when looking at the history of the governing body is that we seem to be in the middle of a lengthy "dry spell" when it comes to making new appointments.. gerrit losch is currently the longest-serving member having been appointed in 1994. however, his appointment came at the end of a 17 year period in which no appointments were made.
this contrasts notably with the remarkable six-year period between 1971 and 1977 when 15 members were added.. since losch's appointment, 4 members were added in 1999 (herd, lett, pierce and splane) and 2 more recently in 2005 (morris and jackson).. the seven year spell since the last appointments were made has seen the deaths of barber, barr, jaracz, shroeder and sydlik - cutting the number of governing body members almost in half.
When you think about it it is pretty remarkable that Gerrit Loesch made it onto the GB. I wonder what they saw as so special about him.
He can speak numerous languages fluently (stated in the WT that announced his appointment). And he helped the big apostate scandal in Romania in the 80's along with Ted Jaracz (Proclaimers Book). Ted saw him as a valuable asset I guess. Once Ted liked you...

Notice how many times you all say "I" or "me" when talking about a God. Shows how selfish you all are...
Sometimes it takes a yearbook experience to see how God blessed a family far away with a little yellow book explaining another book that has been copied and translated and copied and translated from a dead language... That's proof!

Maybe, just maybe, they are waiting for Loesch to die so the rest can make things right! Actually put the organization in a positive direction!
Lol.

I can see where you're coming from.
Right now, my thoughts are, when I pray, does God listen? Even if something works to my favor, can I say it was God?
What about the children literally being eaten by birds because they are too weak to defend themselves? Why can't God give them food instead of answering my relatively selfish requests. Children, CHILDREN, who have done nothing but was born into a chaotic situation can't even eat. If I had the power, that would be HIGH on my list to fix. Why hasn't God done it? (I do have problem with the Bible being the Word of God so I don't use it as a spiritual reference.)
But when I see order, from the nucleus of a cell to the wonders of the universe, I don't believe it all came about by accident on it's own.
So I'm in limbo.... But if I become atheist, that would be a reason. Not the only one, but an important one nonetheless.
what kingdom halls do the governing body attend?
my guess is they go to private meetings.
it is very clear the rules that apply to all jw's do not apply to them.
It was whack. GB members (with the expection of Herd and Pierce) would give crazy long prayers, comments, and would conduct meetings up to 20 mins over. At their congregations that is. No one complained, people were honered, especially myself.
this would be considered a strong indicator of mental illness.
but if it causes you or others no concern it can be quite harmless.. .
EE - I see. But guilt or pleasure has a way of "speaking" to the person, albeit figurative speech. In one's brain, it will make them feel good or condemned. There will be a voice that says "Good job" or "Yo, son, WTF?" Not a literal voice, i agree.
